I made this card quite some time ago. Then it sat in the box of made cards, waiting to be sent to a person and cheer their special day.

Well, this past weekend, that day came. I gave this to my sister-in-law and as I was about to seal it in the envelope I remembered that I did not have a picture of it. Since I took a picture and I figured how to blog from my phone, I thought I could show it to you guys.

Different Card Making Materials

It is that time of year again. It seems my daughter is never home because she is always at a birthday party! Since she wanted to help out so much and there were so many cards to make, I thought we would use some of her crafting supplies

So, I had her make a few 'gifts' out of perler beads and then we melted them and glued them onto card bases. She felt super involved because she chose the colors of her beads and I was able to get a large number of kids cards taken care of rather quickly.

The first few recipients sounds like they were very happy with the cards that my daughter and I whipped up.

Bitty Birthday Card

Sorry for the photos. I was packing the lunches and thought it might be nice to have something to show you all as I {and the rest of Canada} head into a long weekend.

Wednesday was my son's birthday and I thought it might be nice for him to have a little something special in his lunch bag. So I whipped up a card, using mainly scraps that could be found on my desk. I stamped an image for him and inside I stamped "happy birthday" and wrote a little note.

The brown strips were in the scrap bin, {cut offs from my scallop edge punch}, The brown polka dot paper is from some scrap stacks that I got while I was visiting the Amuse store in Seattle and the center circle was already in the scrap bin, just waiting to be stamped.

I used to write his sister notes last year and thought she might like one today, as well. So I found a few more scraps kicking around and made this happen.

The red base is textured, that was in my scrap bin. The brown polka dot paper is from the Amuse store in Seattle. The red circle is from Donalda, it is alcohol inks on card stock. The star was in my bin, as was the scallop border.
Both cards came together very quickly and mostly from scrap items I had just laying around.

Wheat, Blowing in the Wind

I don't use Cajun Craze very often, I don't find it a useful color. Not quite red, not quite orange, sort of dreary looking. But, at this time of year, I see a fair bit of it out in the yards and fields. Turns out, it is a fabulous fall color. AND, with the right accent, it is down right cheerful.

I stamped the wheat stalk and what-ever that other stalk is in Cajun Craze. There is also a little bit of stamping off. I found a sentiment that worked and I stumbled across this wrinkled Baja Blue ribbon, the ribbon just seemed like it belonged.
I thought there needed to be a little more ... something at the bottom, so I took off a 1/4 inch and replaced it with some Cajun Craze card stock.
Sometimes the cards make themselves.

Perfectly Pearled Leaves

The leave are changing! Slowly, very slowly for this part of Canada. I guess that is partially due to the fact that we are still having summer temperatures. Not just summery, but crazy hot summery. We are going to hit over 30*C today!

I used some watercolor paper and sprayed it with water. Then I painted a bit of Perfect Pearls on it and let it dry. The next day I stamped some leaves and punched them out.

I had been playing around with my Perfect Pearls when Susan did a card like this, so I did a Thanksgiving version with the painting I had done.

It All Comes Down to Scale

I liked the idea of this card, but in execution it is lacking something.

Masked Pumpkins

So, the parade of Thanksgiving cards continues. Some are good, some are not going to my favorite people:) and some I feel ambivalent toward. This card is alright, but the sponging leaves something to be desired.

I sponged a masked background and then masked some pumpkins and leaves from my new Amuse set over that. I added a layer or two {not something I normally do} and I have a fine card. Maybe I won't send it to anybody that I am trying to impress....

Thankfulness

Autumn is starting to creep in up here, and I like that. It means that it is the time of year when people stop and take stock of all that they have. Over in our house, we know that life is not perfect, but it sure is pretty good and, besides, perfect could be boring.

So, I have been making some Thanksgiving cards and getting those ready to send off to family and friends. This little creation had very little addition from me. The vase with leaves was a gift from Donalda and it was beautifully colored already! I chose to cut it out and pop it on some dimensionals.
The sentiment stamp is from the Bright Blessings wheel that I cut apart last year and then I added some rhinestones to give an extra pop!

Wasn't Sure Where I Was Going

I knew that I wanted to use my Woodgrain Backgound stamp, and I wanted to mask. But other than that, I was not sure where I was going with this card and all the elements.

I am still not sure how I feel about it. I like it better today than I did the day I made it, but that is not the highest praise to give a card :(
I made a mask with nestibilites and then stamped the woodgrain background. Not much more to it than that.

Getting Sketchy

Over on the Clean and Simple Blog there was a sketch that I thought I could do and make use of some of those wonderful scraps from Donalda.

Her parcel included those stars and so I tried to come up with a color combo that would work with the Summer Sun color. I am happy with the final combo, it is springy and fresh.
I changed the placement of the sentiment, but mainly because I did not change up the top panel {in the sketch, it is solid}

One layer Goodness

I was challenging myself to make a stylish, yet easy to reproduce card.

This is what I came up with.

I used my nestabilities and cuttlebug to make a mask and then I used my brayer to apply some ink and stamped a branch from Beautiful Botanicals and sentiment from Contemporary Greetings. There you have it, a simple-to-reproduce-one-layer-card.

I started in White and Bashful Blue.

Then I tried to do a few in a more monochromatic look. This one is retired Almost Amethyst.

Thanks Giving

I don't go in for Halloween cards. I think Halloween is stupid and I only grudgingly go along with it for the kids. So, there will be a lot of Thanksgiving cards instead. Also, in Canada we have our Thanksgiving at the beginning of October instead of the end of November.

I don't often make a card that I want to wrap in plastic and carry in my purse, just to peek at or show people. But this is one of those cards.
It has a few more layers than I usually do, but it also has some rock n' roll and twill and a great color combo.

Polka Dot Birthday

In the envelope full of goodness from Donalda came a large panel of navy dots on white and white dots on navy. Well, I just loved it and it took a lot of pre-planning before I could cut into it.

I managed to get two cards out of the panels and then also found some more die cut shapes that worked as sentiment panels. I added a strip of Night of Navy ribbon across the top.

To break up all the dots I stamped some small hydrangea blooms in Pretty in Pink around the edge of the panel.

Surprise Parcel

A surprise parcel came in the mail a few weeks ago. Hmmm, who could this be from?

I was so excited when I saw who it was from, I had a feeling I knew what was inside.

Donalda sent me a parcel filled with wonderous parts and pieces from her craft table. I was so inspired and I have a few cards coming up that were cobbled together, either from her scraps or mine.

Here, I used the butterfly border and the pink swirl border from Donalda. I found a matching cardbase and stamped a coordinating swirl and a sentiment.

Morning cup

Not a lot to this card, just two stamp sets and some ink.

I stamped the oval in green {no reason} then I stamped the "steam" in espresso {cuz it is coffee themed} and stamped and cut out some mugs and glued those on dimensionals.

Over on Wiggy's World, Donalda has an amazing way of using her card scraps. She finds elements on her craft table and puts them together with such ease. The card ends up looking like it was carefully planned the whole time!

So, I tried my hand at taking some "parts for cards that just never happened" and seeing if I could make some scrap magic.
I don't know that I made magic, but I did clear out a bargello panel that I had whipped up almost a year ago. I was inspired by a card she had made with home-made felt ribbon. So I sewed a seam up either side of a strip of felt and glued that to the main panel and stamped a sentiment right under that.
Like I said, hardly magic, but it did grease my wheels a bit.

Sorry about summer taking me away from you like that. It got super busy around here, and even with taking my laptop on holiday I ran out of time to even whip up a quick blog post for you. We were just so busy having a good time.

One of our stops on vacation was at the Amuse shop in Seattle. So far, they do not ship to Canada, but since we were in the area anyhow.....

Good Morning!

My kids have Two Weeks of Swimming Lessons {at an outdoor pool}! It is going to be great! I can get a lot of reading done and they can be kept busy and strengthen their swimming skills.

I made this card for a friend after we had a very inspiring conversation together. I ran it over to her the next morning and left it to cheer her day.
It is simple, yet stunning. Whisper White is embossed with an unknown ProvoCraft embossing folder. Cut a label with my SU dies and some retired felt flowers. Done!

Easy to Mail

This card has one thing going for it, it is easy to mail.

Don't get me wrong, I generally like this card, but I was stuck in my mind that I had to use Garden Green. Plus, I had already decided to use my Sahara Sand colored washi tape as the 'ribbon' at the top. The two colors are just not a good pair, or else my sentiment is too little. Either way, I think the men in my life have their birthday cards.....

I CASEd Joan again. She is so creative and when I find myself in a rut or lacking MOJO, she can kick start me like nobody's business!

When I saw this card of hers I knew I had to make it. I was going to change up the colors, but everything about her card was perfection and I did not want to mess with it. Yous a Star Baby

This card is a CASE, but in the folder full of inspiration, I do not have it linked up to an original source. {Maybe a PTI design team stamper}.

I have changed a few things from the original; placement, color, and font. My card still has the punch of the original card, but the main panel is a little smaller. The original card was done by outlining the image panel with a pen and ruler, but I used the super handy Frame-It stamp set from Waltzing Mouse. That may have been the best purchase I have ever made {as far as stamp sets go}

Using That Hydrangea Stamp

We all have them, the stamp we could not live without. But after a few dips in the stamp pad, we have moved on to the freshest face on the craft table. So, in a fit of creativity, I busted out the good ole Hydrangea stamp. I have even forgotten what it was called. {Because I Care, I just checked the stamp shelf}

I stamped it in More Mustard, because I had matching rhinestones. The sentiment is in Basic Grey, I thought black would be too stark. This version is on Very Vanilla, I made it on Whisper White first, but as it turns out, something are nicer on vanilla.

But, white is nice, too.

Poorly Executed

These little babies are fully CASEd from Joan, but I changed up the colors and sentiment.

The 'stamp' was leftover rubber from a set that I had the forethought to keep, GO ME! Because I mounted it on the back side of the wood block, I should have used a stamp-a-ma-jig.
Whatever. It is a stunningly hot day and the kids are done school, so we are off to a spray park.

More Linear Butterflies

Another of those cards with butterflies all lined up, unnaturally. Doesn't really bother me, till I sit down to blog the card and I realize that you only really see butterflies like this if they are mounted. I prefer to see my butterflies fluttering about in my yard.

This card is loosely CASEd, but I can not recall from whom.
I stamped the butterflies in some subtle colors and then kissed the stamp with a polka dot background {but that does not show up well} I curled the wings of the butterflies before I mounted them on the card base and that is really all there is to this.

Perfect Pearls

It is a simple one-layer beauty, but that shimmer add a real step up! I made a few of these, just playing with the colors in the set and seeing which ink colors they matched the best.

Leafy Goodness

I bought myself some Perfect Pearls and thought I would be able to figure these out with no problem. BUT, I had several problems with figuring out how to use them effectively. But I think I have the hang of it now.

I stamped some text in the background, my sentiment over top of that and then punched out a leaf that I had embossed in white and painted some Perfect Pearls over top of.

I think I will post a few photos over the next few days to show you some of my experiments with Perfect Pearls.

Bus Drivers

Everybody makes sure to thank the teachers, but what about the guy that gets the kids to school?

Well, I nabbed this cute idea from Janelle's blog a few weeks back.
Now, I could not find a cute little bus stamp anywhere, but I did manage to find a sale on stickers at the local craft store and this little guy was in the mix. So, I pulled this sticker off the header sticker and glued it onto a label that I crafted. It is punched out of Real Red and then Whisper White. The WW shape was then punched out again to make it a little smaller {neat, huh?} All of that goes on the card base with dimensionals.
A gift card goes inside with a note from the precious cargo.

A Card Set

I had a favor I wanted to repay in a small way, so I made a small set of cards for a friend.

I used some retired card stock, this may be Pale Plum or something like that....
The card base is textured and the image panel is the regular card stock. I embossed the image and the sentiment on the main panel and matted that on white card stock. Pretty simple. I made 4 in this color and 4 in another color and put everything into a clear card box.
An easy way to thank somebody for a kind act.

Fathers Day

You can use this idea NEXT year, since it is too late for this year. Unless, of course, you have a masculine birthday coming up....

Pretty simple, I had DH help straighten the coil that holds a notepad together {since we were done with the note pad}. Then I formed that into something close to a clothes hanger shape {I made 2 of these and the one that is sitting in the mail system is way better}. Then cut some coordinating DSP into tie shapes and glue around the hanger. TA-DA!
The ties are glued to the card base and the hanger just has a dot of Crystal Effects to hold it in place.

Taken a Fancy to Washi Tape

I ordered some washi tape awhile back and have found a few ways to make it work on a card.

I rather like the stuff. I know I have heard a few bloggers say that they are not sure what to do with it, now that they have it, but I find it a fun distraction from a heavily stamped card or a good stand in when you don't have a huge selection of patterned paper.

Here, I wrapped a panel of junk card stock in alternating colors of washi tape and mounted that on a matching mat. That went onto the card base where a sentiment is centered at the bottom. I think it turned out well. So well, that I promptly ordered more rolls of the tape!

One more one layer card

Here we have another one layer clean and simple creation. I really don't have a lot to say about it. I found an image that was simple enough to repeat and picked some colors that looked fresh and cheery. Then stamped away. I did not go out of my way to ensure that everything was straight, as I was using clear stamps and the grid on the block really helped keep everything square.
It is a stunning day and I typing this on the deck, the pull of the kids playing is strong, go and enjoy your day!

This card is a direct CASE from Joan Bardee. She has been pumping out some incredibly inspiring work and I could not help but copy it! I changed up my ink choices a little bit, I basically pick 4 ink pads that were beside each other on the shelf.

I used the polka-dot background from Waltzing Mouse set, Off-Beat Backgrounds and only inked part of the image. I had to be a little careful with my alignment, but that was the hardest part about this card.

I made this card way back in December, I actually made about 12 of them. But was too lazy to take a picture of it or send it to anybody or put a sentiment on it. So now I have a large set of blank cards to give as a set to my mother-in-law or use in the case of emergency birthday cards {should I be to lazy to stamp}

I was going to stamp something under that birdy, but I rather like the way it looks as is.
The tall bird cage from Aviary, squat little owl inside. A small scrap of ribbon to hang the cage and mat that all on a piece of Rich Razzleberry.
Now you see why it was so easy to whip up a dozen of these.

Bit of a break

Sorry about that long absence. I got super busy with work and when I did have time to create, my mind was blank. However, I did feel obligated to make something for my DH birthday {way back in March} and this was the super simple card I made for him.

Well, it is the last of the cards that I have made with them. There are still 3 more sitting in my scrap box. So, that is something you will just have to look forward too.

I punched a ruffle boarder out of some old book and used that as my background excitement. Added the tag to a scallop circle {see my consistency with the scallops} and used the sweet little sentiment from Waltzing Mouse Stamps {Love that little phrase and font}

PTI Anniversary Tags

This was the first of those tags that I used on a card.

I was a little stumped for a bit as to what to do. I punched this tag out and then just tossed it around my desk for a bit. I had matched it to the colored cardstock I wanted to used, but then just did not know where to go from there. I think I finally hopped over to Clean and Simple Stamping and used a layout they had over there. I am still not over the moon with this little guy, but I have been posting everyday this week and wanted to have something to show the faithful.

Birthday Butterflies

Just a pretty and simple card for all of you to stare at. Not a lot going on here, but some Celery and Saffron.

Stamped my leaf image and glued some butterflies on to the card base. Added some blings to their bodies and a white organdy ribbon seals the deal.

Bright Bird Cages

I have seen a few versions of this sort of imagery around lately.

I have seen other card makers do something similar, I have seen large companies put similar looks into their catalogues and I have seen wall paper that has this kind of a feel to it. I did my version of it.

So, I added a bunch of fun colors and made my version of it.
Random bird cages stamped on a sheet of Whisper White and then matted on a coordinating color. Add a sentiment strip and there you have it.
But, I was attempting to do the vellum sentiment strip thing. Big problem there. The background was way to busy for that and I was way to lazy to cut another strip of vellum to emboss {I found this strip, as is, in my scrap box on my desk}. So, I put a strip of card stock under it and called it a night.

Welcome Riley

So, I have a new nephew. This little guy is stubborn, he started hinting that he wanted to come out last Wednesday. Now, this is a problem because he would have been 2 1/2 months early. So, the doctors put a stop to that. But low and behold this little guy insisted and was born on Friday morning. Everybody seems to be doing well, so I went ahead and CASEd a card;

I just loved this card when I saw the original, so when my nephew made an early arrival, I thought it was time to make a version of it. I changed a few things {like color, mine are all retired SU, and added buttons for wheels. Again, retired}. I am not going to make a whole party themed table to go a long with it, but I may make her a few thank you cards to coordinate....

This week at Less is More the challenge was to use pastel colors on your clean and simple card.

I could not decide which way I wanted to have the image, so I made two cards.

One was the landscape version and for the second attempt I did portrait. My DD likes the second one more. I am torn. Both versions have their strong points.

Either way, the card yells out "Hurry up Spring and make it to Western Canada!"

Three Squares

Well, some of you have fallen in love with the community feel of the Less is More challenge blog. I know I have. I am enjoying the constructive comments left by the other bloggers and I am enjoying the process of visiting these new-to-me bloggers.

This week the challenge was 3 Squares on your card. I toyed with the idea of having different sized squares, more like mats in a sketch, but opted for the clean layout of 3 in a row. I tossed ideas around for a day or two and thought I would used the crown from this vintage feeling set, I think it plays nicely off the clean and simple colors and layout I am working with.

Where Does the Time Go?

Sorry, I have been busy around here, but not with stamping, sadly.

So, here is a card I whipped up the other day. More of those PTI tags and some ribbon that came on a gift from my MIL. The whole thing came together pretty easily.

I gave it to a friend of DH, his birthday was on Sunday. As I was digging through the pile of suitable cards I realized that I had not shared this baby with y'all.

Maybe I will stamp tomorrow.

Playing Around

I downloaded the tags that were offered at Papertrey during their anniversary celebrations.

Well, I did a desk clean the other day. Then I cleaned all the shelves in my work area and moved a few items {more of a tweak than a full on re-organization}I even cleaned some glue off tools and that sort of thing. But during the cleaning I found the tags again.

So, I figured out some color combos and layouts and I have a few cards ready to go. This is good, since my birthday card stash is down to one or two cards. In the fury of activity downstairs, DD got some inspiration;

She asked if I was going to take a photo and put it on the Internet. I figured it was the least I could do for the little sweetie. {She made her card upside down and backward. I don't know why. Probably has something to do with being a 6 year old.}

SPRING!!

Over at Less is More those wonderful women have another challenge up. This week it is Spring.

Well, in my corner of Canada we are a long way off from spring type weather, but I did have just the right stamp for this challenge.
I had found a store a few weeks back that had some American Crafts stamp sets on for amazing prices, so I picked up a few. This set, Fresh, I just could not force it. There was no way I could use any of the springy images. We were buried in snow and sub-arctic tempuratures. But today the challenge just called out to me. So I stamped some rubbers boots and had them splash around in a glittery puddle.

Mmmmm Cupcakes

Well, if one cupcake is good on a card, I figured three would be super fabulous!

With the abundance of birthdays around here lately {and so many of them being grade 1 girls} I figured this would be a great card to whip up a few of. I stamped cupcakes till I was bored. That was easy with the Waltzing Mouse Frame It stamp set. There is an outline and the stamps for the interior. I was going to color each cupcake, but if there is a stamp for that, why would I?
Cut out cupcakes till I was bored. Adhered cupcakes inside stamped frame. DD loves them and thinks we should give them to everybody in her class, whether or not it is their birthday.

I have become like some sort of challenge maniac all of a sudden. Let me at 'em!

I find that I am being stretched as far as some of my recent creations. Such as; when I am stumped for mojo, I used to hunt down inspiration cards and CASE those. But, by being a challenge-monger I am creating something from my mind. How great is that. Something I made, not just copied!

What Has Been Keeping me Busy

I played along in a color challenge, for one thing.But I also made many valentines card for another.
These are the valentines my children will be giving their classmates, and then their mothers will think I am crazy.DD has 24 required cards and DS has 17. I did make it easier on myself by using the Top Note die and some felt stickers from Michaels.
The kids wrote the names on the back, then I used my slot punch to make a tab to help secure the card closed. There are mini chocolate bars glue dotted inside. YUMMY!
These are the ones my DS finished on the desk for me to put in a bag for him.

The Owls say "whoo's your valentine" and the hearts say "you and moi, ooh la la" Since the kids are in french immersion, I figured this counts as curriculum.

I had picked up some stamps at a crazy cheap price at Winners {for you Americans, I can not even begin to find a comparison for you}. American Crafts and Autumn Leaves for less than 3 dollars! I thought that would spark my mojo. Nope. I have a file full of stuff I want to CASE or be inspired from. Nope, that is not doing it either. I Made Two of These

I was looking for some inspiration challenges, but the realised I was going to waste all my crafting time on the computer, so I hopped over to Clean & Simple and used the sketch they have there.Then I thought, "Hey! That would look nice embossed." So I embossed a version of the above.
Sorry;

A) The photos were taken in my basement and there is only so much that Photoshop can do for a girl.

B) The heat embossing really warped my color panels and I can not get the second card to lay flat.

C) I can't think of a sentiment to put on either of these.

A Grey Day

What do you need on a grey day, a bright card.I got out the Medallion stamp and colored it with Pumpkin Pie marker and Cajun Craze in the center. I sewed the image on and tied a flouncy bow on the front. I could stick a sentiment on the bottom, under the bow, but I think I may just stamp a birthday sentiment on the inside.

Nothing like a bit of color to brighten a gloomy day, I feel better already.

(sorry for any punctuation mistakes, my new laptop key board seems to be on European set up. I need to figure out how to fix that)

Crinkle

Another of those cards I made in an effort to catch up on the Clean and Simple challenges on Splitcoast. This was challenge CAS88 - Crinkle.
So, the first thing I thought of was crinkly ribbon. So I crinkled up some ribbon, but it did not like to be in that state, so you will have to look pretty closely to see the crinkly-ness of it.

I did tie a bow that I am pretty happy with, though!

Another card I saw in the gallery at Splitcoast and I thought it would help to kick start my creativity.I made the main panel a little smaller than the inspiration card and I left a layer off. But I needed to use up some double-stitched ribbon and some of those cordouroy buttons.

I must say a huge thank you. I have some FABULOUS stampers that pop into my blog and see what is up with me. I can not express my gratitude to these ladies. Their feedback really helps keep me coming back here and posting the things I have made in my basement. I love all the comments that are left here.

Now, I just need to get better at commenting on their blogs.

I have been creating plenty of cards, just didn't have a lot of time to post them. I send out birthday cards for the Birthday RAK on Splitcoast Stampers. So, I try to have a large number of flat and easily mailed cards on hand. {International postage can really add up}

Just because it is a one layer flat card does not mean that it has to be boring. I think the colors on this card really help to make it zing. I chose the colors because the three stamp pads were side by side on my shelf.

Since we are doing birthday cards, I will post a card I mass produced for the Splitcoast Stampers Birthday RAK group. Every month I get an 'assignment' of birthday cards to send out. Sometimes I have to send a few of them to another country. I like to keep them simple just for that reason. I used a bunch of DSP I had kicking around and made a small sentiment medallion, placed that on a ribbon and there you have it.
A number of cards, whipped up in a hurry and not too much extra postage required.

Birthday Turned Sympathy

At my monthly card class, this was the card that one of the attendees turned into a sympathy card. When she showed up she said she had need of one and I said that was fine, I had a card that could easily be turned into an appropriate card;

But, she did not tie a bow. She glued the ribbon down flat instead, she had to mail it internationally and did not want to make a trip to the post office for more stamps.

A Lot of Talking From Me

I had to drop out of the 365 Cards challenges. I had a few crazy weeks and just could not eek out time to stamp. One of the things that had me really busy was I was hired to stamp some Christmas cards for a friend, I also hold a monthly stamp class for some friends and then was hired to hold a card class for a woman and her splurge club. Now, there is some overlap between my card class and this splurge club, so I could not just use the same designs for the two events. AND, I did not know the skill level of the ladies in the splurge group.

There did not seem to be a lot of point in doing Christmas cards for either group {what good is 3 handmade cards?} So we did birthdays and one of the cards got turned into a sympathy card for one of the members.

Here is a happy birthday card!

I like the colors here, they are happy and bright. I don't like to measure and do math, so this card actually involved a lot of trial and error. OR, I could have just used some rules and math.

One Stands Alone

In my mind, this was going to look a little different.

365 Cards challenge was ONE color, plus one stamp, TWO embellishments {same color} and no DSP.
So, I stitched up a ribbon frame for my sentiment. But in my mind's eye, this was going to be a little rufflier. Then the felt leaf {to me} looks like a malformed heart rather than a leaf. My DH does not like the scale of the ribbon frame. Everybody is a critic.

The challenge at 365 Cards was to use just a fraction of a stamp image. It looks like the ladies over there are going to stump me this week. This was not the only challenge I have had to think on for a day or so.

I used a portion of the argyle pattern from All About Argyle as a border on the bottom. Then I had a hard time thinking up something to do for the remainder of the card!

Since November is my "Do What 365 Cards Tells Me Too" month, I did the sketch over there yesterday. Think about it, somehow these fine ladies come up with a new challenge for every day of the year! Wow! I tried to do a shabby/vintage type of thing here, but I don't think I was all that committed to the style as I have a more CAS look to my vintage.

I made some DSP to match my Cherry Cobbler base by using my brayer to go over some black and white DSP. On the mini tag, I colored the snowman's nose and scarf, and have some gold stickles on the star.

I Almost Fainted!

So, the challenge was....blow art.

You know, drops of ink on paper {I used glossy white} and use a straw to move it around and get a nice pattern paper. Now, 3 days later, I think I should have used that can of compressed air that DH has for cleaning the computer. But no! I used these.

No, really, we do not have a normal straw in the house. I think I blew harder than I needed too. But, this is the end result:

All in all, I am happy with how this turned out. Considering that during the creation of my blow art paper I was very unhappy with my pattern and color choices. But, on a card base and with some other decoration, I would do this again. As long as DH has more canned air around...

On 365 Cards, the challenge is warm & cozy and how those words inspire you;Well, on a snowy day {there are stickles snow on the ground and on the roof} I like to stay inside my warm house and be cozy with my family. So that is how this card came to be.

Four Colors on a Card

I sometimes get 3, but 4 IS a challenge for me. On my laptop these colors look like: Rich Razzleberry, Taken With Teal, Daffodil Delight, and Pumpkin Pie. On my desktop they looked like something else entirely. Since the laptop is my primary computer, I went with how they looked there.
I had all 4 colors of the card stock out. But then I figured, if I just do those colors in ink it would be a much cleaner card. Then this stamp image came to mind, since there was no way I could see to turn these colors into a Christmas card, I made this happy CAS little number.

Sketchy Christmas Card

So, this was the sketch Sunday night on 365 Cards. I looked at it with stunned silence. One of the ideas I had, a design team member had posted already. So, back to the mental drawing board.I came up with this;
I generally like what is going on here. But if I were to redo this card, I would NOT put it on a River Rock background, oh, and I would check the stitch on my sewing machine before I began sewing. Other than that, I am happy with it.

A Dozey of a Challenge

This challenge on 365 Cards almost had me beat.

You were to pick a challenge from August, September AND October and combine them all on one card. Pretty tough. But I managed to come up with a pretty clean card; From August, I picked Day 180, 1-dsp, 1-stamp, 1-ribbon. September was Day 204, the sketch and October I chose Day 230, to use a technique you almost never do. {Since I am not big on any techniques, I did cracked glass.}

Now that I took the photo in the sunlight {as opposed to my dingy basement} I see that my DSP red is not as vibrant as the ink I went with. I should get better lighting down there.

A Challenge Card

Last year, in October, I played along with 365Cards blog and made a card a day. This year, I thought I would try it again. So for November I am going to try to do each days challenge. This card was inspired off this post. The first thing about the inspiration picture that struck me was the 3 frames above the bed, and the color. So I made a very simple card with 3 images at the top, to mimic the frames. I opted for Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla as my colors. The ribbon echoes the bedding toward the bottom of the picture.

I guess I could have added 'more' to this card, but that does not feel like me.

A simple layout. There is something you can not see very well in this photo. The white panel with the snow flakes on it is the back side of some textured card stock. It gives a neat effect to the look of the card. I really only decided to use the textured CS because I am all about using up scraps lately and this little bit was floating around my desk.

More of the cards I made with my Waltzing Mouse stamps. The plaid is made with Off Beat Backgrounds. That is a stamp from last year, and I always loved it. When I decided I was going to place an order, that one had to go in my shopping basket!I made my plaid going on the bias as well as straight. I like the way they both look.
Pretty simple, but that is my style.

I was looking over some of the cards I have posted in the course of having this blog. I have not always stayed true to my style. For a while, I fell for the idea that it was not a card till it had ribbon on it. Looking over some of my creations, it seems that I have really forced the issue some times. This card needed the pop of ribbon. But I don't always 'feel' the ribbon thing, you know?

Very Colorful Card

My DD has a birthday party to go to and I thought a little girl turning 6 needs a bright and vibrant card. This is a simple one layer card, but the color really gives it the punch I was looking for.I stamped the cupcakes in Rich Razzleberry and then colored the tiny cupcakes with my Stampin Markers and the icing with my Sakura stardust pen. I knew the color would run a little bit, but I like the gentle color it gives to the icing. I was hoping it would work this well.

A White Blanket

A white blanket over all the green grass. It hardly seems right, a week ago my DS was wearing shorts to school. But, today we have a snowy covering over the land. This is the first card I made with my Waltzing Mouse stamps. I have always liked her artwork but with her October release I could no longer contain myself. I placed an order and then waited not so patiently for just over 2 weeks. They showed up on a Friday morning and I got to work right away!

They have really fired up my creativity and you may see a lot of them over the next few days.

Going in Circles

Just a simple card I whipped up the other night.I found some scrap bits of DSP that were living in my scrap bin and I ripped them down one edge. Glued them together and used my circle punch on the created sheet. Two of the circles are glued right to the card base and the third one is up on dimensionals. Sentiment is stamped in the corner and one more for the Happy Birthday pile.

Sorry, I have not been using my time wisely. With the sun setting here earlier, I need to remember to take photos of my cards in the daytime. By the time I make supper and clean it up, it is dark as midnight and all my photos look yellow.

So, here is a daytime shot of a recent creation.

If it looks yellow, that is because it is. A bright yellow felt background seemed like a fun idea for a little child's birthday. Besides, I just bought pinking shears and thought I should make use of the purchase.

I don't have much to show you, so here is a a card I made in the summer.I had some white seam binding, but wanted it Marina Mist. So, I dragged it through my ink pad. The flowers were punched out of DSP with my trio flower punch. A brad in the center of each and a sentiment on the bottom. VOILA!

So, now that summer is over I thought I should head over to the big box craft store and see what was new. They have these stamps called Soloz {or something like that}. There was a cute bird stamp, so I bought it {I have a lack of bird stamps} When I bought the stamp, I had something different in mind, but once I stuck that clear stamp onto a block, everything changed. I ended up embossing the bird in white and then stamping blue snow flakes all over it.

Quick Christmas Card

I thought I had unused cards from last year, but darn if I can find them. Oh well! I guess I need to make some new ones.This is a simple card, a cleaned up version of one I saw on Deanna Woodland's blog. I have rolls and rolls of red twill tape and seam binding {from when I inherited my Oma's sewing kit} and I figured it would work really well on a version of Deanna's card.

I stamped my tree and cut out a few then adhered my ribbon and a gem. Sentiment in the corner and I whipped up a few of these. I made them till I was bored of this layout and design. I only do mass production till it feels too much like work!

Overly Simple Butterflies

I made this card, then looked at it for 2 weeks before I just finally gave in and took a picture of it. Then I realized that I had some red bling and so I added that as their bodies. I was going to do something else to add some zip to the card. But in all honesty we have been visiting every lake within an hours drive of us and enjoying them while we can. I think my kids deserve that {and I am getting some reading in}This card was CASEd from Kristin Moore.

Sorry, that the butterflies have been so long in coming. My DH was hogging the laptop over the weekend and Monday we walked to all the parks in out neighbourhood and had a bit of a pic-nik.

So, today we have thundershowers and rain forecast all day. I thought I would take a moment to post the latest card I CASEd.
I punched the butterflies in Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise. I also punched them from vellum. I glued the card stock butterflies down and then folded the vellum butterflies & glued them on top. I machine stitched the lines and then placed some black rhinestones over the butterflies. I picked a sentiment and stamped that in the corner.

I have a few more cards coming....
